At its January 16th meeting, the Board of Directors - noting that
the funding gap for the new museum had been narrowed significantly over
the past year - unanimously and enthusiastically authorized the Museum
to apply for its building permits. The Board also authorized the Museum
to secure a final construction contract and begin the certification
process with the City of Tacoma to close on its land option. The
Board's goal is to complete the certification, permitting and
fundraising to allow ground breaking to occur in 2009.
The Board also approved the Museum's "Race To The Finish"
campaign--a public fundraising effort to reach the Tacoma-Seattle
region.
