TACOMA, Wash. (June 6, 2011) –LeMay – America’s Car Museum (ACM) will house 500 cars… and with a lot of cars comes a lot of maintenance. To address this need, the National Automotive Parts Association (NAPA) today signed an agreement to design and fully equip the NAPA AutoCare Center at ACM, the four-story, Tacoma, Wash. museum set to open in May 2012.

“Car owners go to NAPA Auto Parts when they need parts for their vehicle, and our museum is no different, except we have hundreds of cars with thousands of parts,” said David Madeira, president and CEO of ACM. “In addition to providing everything we need to properly maintain our cars – some of which are more than 100 years old – the NAPA AutoCare Center will be a locale where we hold clinics for future generations of ‘car guys and girls’ to learn how to keep America driving.”

The NAPA AutoCare Center at ACM will be located inside the 165,000-sq.-ft. museum, and will feature multiple bays outfitted with NAPA parts, tools and equipment to service the museum’s wide collection of vehicles.

“Through our stores and service centers, NAPA has kept cars on the road in America since 1925, so it’s quite natural for us to now tend to the complete stable of vehicles at America’s Car Museum,” said Art Fischer, president and general manager of NAPA Seattle. “This museum depicts America’s love affair with the automobile and we look forward to taking loving care of ACM’s impressive collection as well as assisting the Museum with its educational mission.”

Situated 30 miles south of Seattle and in the shadow of Mt. Rainier, ACM is dedicated to preserving more than a century of automotive history, and will showcase rotating exhibits, an educational center, library, a 3.5-acre show field, theatre, café and meeting facilities. ACM will feature cars of all shapes and sizes, ranging from Chevrolets, LaSalles and Studebakers to Toyotas, Minis and Duesenbergs.

NAPA distributes auto parts to corporate-owned and independent auto part stores. There are currently more than 6,100 NAPA Auto Parts stores, 64 distribution centers and 13,000 NAPA AutoCare repair facilities in North America, with more than 422,000 parts and accessories in its inventory.

LeMay – America’s Car Museum in Tacoma, Wash., explores how the automobile has fulfilled a distinctive role at the core of the American experience and shaped our society. The spacious Museum with rotating exhibits is designed to be the centerpiece for automotive history as well as an educational center and library. The nine-acre campus also contains a 3.5-acre show field, theatre, café, banquet hall and meeting facilities. To become an ACM member, volunteer or make a donation, visit
