LeMay – America’s Car Museum® Receives
Funding for Summer Internships

Apr 12, 2011

TACOMA, Wash. (Apr 12, 2011) – (Tacoma, WA) - LeMay – America’s Car Museum® (ACM) is pleased to announce the recent award of $9,600 provided by the Collectors Foundation of Traverse City, Michigan to fund two internships in the Collection Management department for Summer 2011.

To be considered for one of these internships, a student must demonstrate the potential and commitment to promote the field of classic car restoration and preservation and be currently enrolled in an automotive restoration program at an accredited college. The students selected for the internships will work alongside the Museum’s Collection Management staff and volunteers where they will have the opportunity to work on a wide variety of vintage autos and gain practical experience in vehicle assessment, detailing, minor restoration and preservation.

These internships are a vital part of the Museum’s commitment to education,” said David Madeira, president and CEO of ACM. “These hands-on experiences give students an opportunity to apply their education in the classroom to practical field work in classic car preservation and restoration. This kind of opportunity is absolutely essential if a new generation of classic vehicle conservators is to be recruited and trained.”

America’s Car Museum wishes to thank the Collectors Foundation for their substantial financial support which makes these internships possible.  The Collectors Foundation is an educational grant-making organization funded by collector vehicle and classic boat enthusiasts to serve youth development and the long-term interests of the collector vehicle and classic boat communities.
