Education Group Visits

Spark creative learning at America’s Car Museum with inquiry-based tours and hands-on workshops!

Qualification requirements for discounted school group rates:

  • Group includes 10 or more youth/students.
  • Group was booked in advance by an educational organization serving youth and/or students.
  • Group includes one chaperone per 10 students to assist with supervision.
  • Group pays in one transaction upon arrival.

STEP ONE: CHOOSE YOUR VISIT TYPE

  • Self-guided exploration
    • $5 per student
    • Must reserve 24 hours in advance

OR

  • Guided Tour
    • $5 per student
    • Must reserve two weeks in advance 

One chaperone is required for every 10 students and receives complimentary admission to assist with supervision.

Additional chaperones (exceeding this 10:1 ratio) will be charged the reduced educational rate of $5. Bus drivers receive complimentary admission.

STEP TWO: UPGRADE YOUR VISIT

Hands-on Workshop
Additional $3 per student

Combine science and art concepts with a custom-designed keepsake. Workshops can accommodate one class of approximately 24 students every hour.

Activity options include:

  • Custom-designed Toy Car
  • Digital Car Design
  • Balloon-powered Car
  • Pinewood Derby Car

Speed Zone Experience
Additional $2 per student

Students may enjoy a test run on either the racing simulator (2 minutes) or the slot car track (7 minutes). Participants must be at least 4 feet 3 inches to drive the racing simulator. The Speed Zone can accommodate one class of approximately 24 students every hour.

Souvenir Kits
Additional $5 per student

Pre-order souvenir kits to pick up in the ACM store on the day of your visit.

STEP THREE: MAKE YOUR RESERVATION

Education group visits may be scheduled for Monday-Friday, between 10am and 5pm. Self-guided groups may request weekend hours. A minimum of 2 hours is recommended to fully enjoy the Museum’s galleries and interactive opportunities.

STEP FIVE: REFLECT UPON YOUR VISIT

We invite all education group chaperones to take an online survey to provide feedback on their overall experience.

All education group visits include:

  • Access to all exhibits, including hands-on Family Zone activities
  • Complimentary group photo in our 1923 Buick
  • Complimentary parking for buses and vans
  • Complimentary indoor space to eat sack lunches (if available and requested in advance)
  • Age-appropriate scavenger hunts to enhance self-guided exploration (if requested in advance)

Scholarships:

To ensure all students have access to meaningful learning experiences, the Museum offers scholarships for free or reduced-cost visits. Schools or non-profit youth organizations with high percentages of enrolled students with government- subsidized meals should consider applying. Download the application for more information.

Pierce Transit Class Pass

Up to thirty people may ride together on one regularly scheduled bus (if space is available) for $48 round trip. The Class Pass must be purchased in advance through Pierce Transit. Contact Pierce Transit online or call 253-581-8000 for more information.

Boxed Lunches
